Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No, a referral from a physician is NOT required to begin physical therapy.  In the state of Michigan you may see a physical therapist for up to 21 days or 10 visits without a prescription from a doctor.

Do you take my insurance?

At Clayton Physical Therapy and Wellness we strive to provide the best physical therapy possible.  In order to do this we are out of network with all insurance companies.  .  We believe in working for your, nor your insurance company.  At Clayton Physical Therapy and Wellness we tailor each treatment to our patients' needs, not to insurance companies.  Not contracting with insurance companies allows you to get the care you deserve and return to your activities or sport in less time.  In the long run you will save time and money when you get the care you need for your unique situation.

At Clayton Physical Therapy and Wellness you will always know the cost up front with no hidden fees or surprise bills.  Upon request we will provide you with a detailed superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Note:  We are able to accept personal injury claims from motor vehicle accidents

How can paying out of pocket for physical therapy rather than going through my insurance save me money?

Here is a sample scenario:  If charging insurance:  Deductible $1000, 20 % co- insurance after deductible, $25 co-pay.  Figuring each visit as $200 (which is actually a low estimate) Visits 1-5 would be $200 + $25 copay which would reach the deductible.  Visits 6-8 would be the 20% co-insurance and the $25 copay.  This brings the total to $1320  (Many insurances have higher deductibles and co-pays than this example so would cost even more)

If paying out of pocket with Clayton PT:  1st visit $150, visits 2-8 $125 each.  This brings the total to $1025.  This is a savings of almost $300!

How can I make payments?

All payments are made via cash, credit/debit card, ApplePay or PayPal.  If applicable, you may also use your Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account dollars or Aflac benefits on physical therapy.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling involves placing thin acupuncture needles into areas of soft tissue dysfunction in your body.  The needles stimulate your body to remodel the injured and inflamed areas of soft tissue thus reducing inflammation and pain in your body.  Dry needling helps to normalize the inflammatory process in your body.  Chronic inflammation causes pain and dysfunction in your body.
